The server.bigwetfish.org is home to mainly resellers. A number of users have been reporting Database Connection Errors when trying to access their websites. These reports are coming in during Office Hours in the UK.
We have performed an audit of this server and discovered one reseller has been selling MOODLE Virtual Learning Environment installs to schools and there are currently 20 such MOODLE installs on this server. There is also one site on American Football getting thousands of unique hits per day and it is a database driven site.
The server is set to allow a maximum of 1000 concurrent database connections.
We are currently performing a load audit on this server for the next 48 hours and after that we will take steps to ensure a stable environment for all users.
In the meantime we will periodically restart the MySQL service throughout the day to ensure any 'hung' database connections are not remaining and hopefully ensure a stable environment for the next 24 hours while we assess the extent of the problem.
