Dear Client

This email applies to USA based hosting accounts only.  UK accounts are NOT affected.

As you may have noticed, over the past month or two, there have been sporadic issues with our network that may have attributed to your service uptime being affected. While a majority of these issues may have gone unnoticed, a few of them were larger than we had anticipated and were felt on a larger scale across our network. We want you to know that here at bigwetfish.co.uk, we are committed to providing not only the best uptime to our clients, but the best prices and support so that we can continue to strengthen our partnerships in 2011 and beyond. In an effort to complete this goal and always provide you the quality web hosting that you deserve, we are providing this notice in regards to a scheduled upgrade that will take place this weekend so that you are aware.  This maintenance is taking place in our USA data centre.  UK hosted clients are not affected.

Unlike the recent power upgrade that was done, this upgrade is non-critical in terms of power loss so you will not be inconvenienced as you were before. Please take the time to review the details for the upgrade below:

Date & Time:
January 29, 2011, 7 AM UK Time- 9 AM UK Time

Maintenance Type:
Network Upgrade- We will be completing the final step in the 10G upgrade to our core network. What does this mean to you? Well, as of late we have been working diligently on mitigating DDoS attacks for our clients, and our network as a whole, so that everyone is affected as little as possible. In performing this upgrade, we will be increasing the bottleneck on our network ten fold which will allow us to handle some of the most sophisticated DDoS attacks in the industry today.

In order to add to the reliability of this upgrade being completed, the process will be performed in two stages so that at any given time, only half of our network will be affected.

Expected Downtime:
While we will do everything we can to expedite the work being done to minimize the effects that you might experience, we would like to advise that this upgrade is not expected to take more than 5 minutes during which our distribution switches will reload.  We understand how how critical any level of service interruption is to you and for this reason we will do what it takes to reduce any effects that you may experience. We are on the last leg of this big upgrade and appreciate your continued patience, understanding, and support.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us via our helpdesk or live chat on Skype or send us a DM on Twitter for a fast reply.
