Clarification on our Free SSLs

We wanted to reach out to you as a number of clients are becoming frustrated with us over the cPanel AutoSSL certificates that we started implementing 3 months ago.  These free SSLs are issued for 90 days at a time and cPanel software should automatically renew these certificates and replace them with new 90 day certificates when they expire.  In most cases this does indeed happen.  It's a very small percentage of certificates that do not renew automatically.  The frustration caused is understandable and we apologise if you have been affected.

We're seeing at least one client per day reach out to us informing us that their free SSL has been allowed to expire.  We work quickly to resolve such issues and install a new free SSL for those clients.  It's important to note this free SSL issuance and renewal proces is completely out of our control and we're currently documenting all cases where the SSLs do not renew to see if we can find a pattern.  Once we do we will be reaching out to cPanel with that information.

We recommend if you have opted for the free AutoSSL certificate that you check your expiry date of your SSL on website such as:  https://www.sslshopper.com/ssl-checker.html - and if your SSL looks like it is about to expire and has not auto renewed please contact us and we'll check it out.

We still sell Comodo Certiicates for up to 3 year duration so if you need a longer term SSL reach out to our sales team and they will gladly help.
