IOMART Maidenhead Emergency Maintenance

We just received this notice from IOMART our data centre partners in Maidenhead.  It should be a non service impacting event but we're posting this for transparency - this is happening overnight tonight.  We received this norification at 4.30pm today.

===============================

Maidenhead (DC5) Emergency Core Router Maintenance

As part of our commitment to quality and continual improvement, we will be performing emergency core router maintenance to correct a memory leak situation occurring on one of the 10G line-cards within our Maidenhead datacentre core routers.

The completion of this emergency maintenance will allow us to ensure that the memory leak does not cause further issues within the affected chassis.

What will happen?

iomart's network engineering team will be carrying out preventative maintenance by conducting a controlled reset of the line-card the memory leak is currently affecting.

As this card carries a number of services (including datacentre upstream connectivity and Overlay Transport Virtualisation - OTV), our engineers will move traffic away from the affected line-card before proceeding with the required controlled reset. Once the line-card has rebooted and full diagnostics have been passed as clean, any changes to traffic paths will be reverted.

When will the work be carried out?

The maintenance will be carried out between 00:01 and 01:00 (GMT) on the 19th January 2017.

Who will be completing the work?

All of the work will be completed by our experienced iomart network and infrastructure team.

Will I experience downtime?

As with any maintenance work, the risk profile of the platform is increased throughout, however this maintenance has been classified as low risk and non-service impacting.
