We're Stopping Selling 'Auto Renew Only' domains

The vast majority of domain names have a common sense renewal policy.  By this we mean your domain expires and you have a registrar grace period to renew these domains meaning if you forget to renew the domain in question you can still renew it for a sensible price.  .com and all the most popular domain names use this policy and it is forgiving if you make a simple oversight or error.

There are a small number of domains that require you to set auto renew on and if you do not do this your domain name is lost.  These domains have in our view a very unforgiving policy.  If you neglect to renew your domain in time you can get stung with a $250 redemption fee by the registry.  One example is the .io domain registry.  For this domain name you need to set auto renew more than 3 days before expiration.  If you do not do that the domain enters redemption and you need to pay $250 to get it back and hope you don't make the same mistake next year.

We're stopping selling any domains without a standard renewal policy and a list is below.

Anyone who currently has such a domain with us will of course be welcome to renew it but we will be setting your next due date to be 2 months ahead of time so we can manually sort the auto renew on our end.  You can of course still host these domains on our network by purchasing them elsewhere and pointing your DNS.
