#imd Students, deadlines, major projects and backups :)

Hi

First off we are not expecting any downtime nor do we want any downtime.  We strive to provide excellent uptime.

As you know we have been trying to support local students over the past 12 months with our IMD Student reseller package that gives 60% off our standard pricing.  Watch this space next month when the space allocation on this plan will increase for no extra cash.

We also realise that many #imd students will be hosting their major projects on our servers and your University Lecturers will be visiting that site to possibly grade your work, read your blogs etc

We wish to provide a 'disaster recovery' service this year open to all students for no charge (whether UUJ IMD or other institutions) who are hosting work on our servers  that is critical to your university course.  Here is what we are proposing:

'When your work is finished and nothing more will change on your website or at any point in the next few weeks we are inviting you to open a support ticket and we will create a clone of your website on a different server in a different data centre.  eg If you are currently hosted in the UK or USA we will create a clone on our UK Cloud (different data centre to our normal Uk servers).  If you are hosted on our cloud (server 19 or server 20) we will create the clone on a standard server in the UK.  In the event of any outage during a critical time all you will need to do is change your domain name servers and within a short period of time your site will resolve again from the different server'

As I say we are not expecting any downtime but it is good to plan for this just in case especially when your major project contributes to your final grade at University.

We look forward to hearing from a number of IMD students in the coming weeks when we will be happy to provide these backups for you and create a clone of your entire site on a different server.

Please also remember you can take an easy backup from your cpanel by simply clicking the 'Backup' link.  This can be stored locally on your PC or Dropbox folder  and is in a .tar.gz format.  This format can be opened with WINRAR on a PC or can be uploaded to any cpanel server and restored quickly.  We highly recommend that all users take their own backups as well for extra peace of mind.

As always we really appreciate your business and we thank you for your loyalty to BWF Hosting :)  To request the clone of your site simply open a support ticket by visiting:  http://bwf.co/ticket  or tweet @bigwetfish

Regards
