Nature of Maintenance: Core infrastructure upgrades - Power
We are writing to inform you of core infrastructure upgrades within our East Antrim data centre, over the past year we have drastically outgrown the initial power capacity we had in place for the data centre. We have, over the last couple of months, started looking at improving the power capacity to ensure that we can continue to service the current and future needs of clients hosted within our East Antrim data centre. The bulk of the work for this upgrade has been completed in the background, there is, however, one final stage of this and this work is taking place overnight starting at 23:30 on 19th April 2023.
During this time there will be a 4-6 hour period where there may be potential disruption to networking as we work to implement the additional capacity on the generator and the two UPS devices we have in place. We are not expecting the outage to be anywhere close to that and the maintenance may be completed sooner. The general plan for the work that night is as follows, we will be switching off one UPS, doing the necessary work on it, switching it back on, and allowing things to stabilise, before then doing the same on the second UPS. There may also be network disruption during this as the network team migrate the core routers to the new power infrastructure, however, all servers should remain online during the entire maintenance, and they will only be unreachable on the network.
Our senior team based in the data centre will be working closely with our networking team and alongside our electrical contractors to help manage the upgrade and ensure that it goes as smoothly as it can.
