At Big Wet Fish, we are continually improving our hosting and website management services to help keep your WordPress website secure, reliable, and performing at its best.
Our WordPress Maintenance Add On has remained largely unchanged in pricing and functionality for almost ten years. As WordPress technology, security threats, and website expectations have evolved significantly during that time, we are now introducing a major upgrade to the service from 1 June 2026.
The updated platform introduces intelligent automation, enhanced monitoring, improved backup systems, and additional security features designed to give website owners greater peace of mind and improved protection.
All clients currently using WordPress Maintenance will receive further information by email shortly.
Our new AI powered WordPress management platform can automatically update plugins with intelligent safety checks built in.
Before updates are applied, the system takes a backup of your website. It then checks that the website is still functioning correctly after the update has completed. If an issue is detected, the system can automatically restore the website and alert our technical team for further investigation.
This allows updates to be applied more quickly while reducing the risk of downtime caused by problematic plugin updates.
The upgraded service now includes enhanced disaster recovery backups stored securely within the EU and accessible through a modern graphical dashboard.
Features include:
For most shared hosting accounts, backups will default to weekly scheduling to ensure the best balance between protection and server performance.
The platform continuously checks your website to ensure it remains online and accessible.
You can view uptime statistics directly from the dashboard and optionally configure alerts if downtime is detected.
You will also be able to view Google PageSpeed performance scores from within the dashboard, helping provide insight into your website’s speed and optimisation.
If you notice your website becoming slow or sluggish, our team will always be happy to assist and advise on possible performance improvements.
The upgraded service now includes Patchstack vulnerability protection.
Patchstack helps protect WordPress websites by virtually patching known plugin and theme vulnerabilities before updates are available from plugin developers. This provides an additional layer of protection against emerging security threats.
The Patchstack plugin will be installed within your WordPress dashboard and securely linked to our management platform.
As part of these significant improvements and additional features, the WordPress Maintenance service will move to a new annual price of £119 per year from 1 June 2026.
While this may initially appear to be a significant increase, our pricing has remained unchanged for almost ten years despite rising operational costs, UK inflation, and the substantial expansion of features now included within the service.
The updated platform now includes AI powered update management, enhanced disaster recovery backups, uptime monitoring, performance monitoring, and Patchstack vulnerability protection as standard, providing a much more comprehensive website protection and management solution than previously available.
We appreciate that not every client will require the full maintenance package. For clients who prefer to manage updates themselves but would still benefit from additional security protection, a standalone Patchstack vulnerability protection option will also be available.
