What Backups do you take on shared and business hosting? Print

All our servers are RAID protected. This means there is more than one hard drive in the array and one hard drive can completely fail without any loss of data.  It's therefore very unlikely we will lose data from a server but should the worst happen we also take backups.

We take backups of all our shared, reseller and business servers on a daily basis to either a remote server or to a separate hard drive located in the server chassis.  We do visually check backups once per month to confirm they have been taken.

Although our backups are primarily designed to protect against hardware failure they can also be used to assist in restoring data caused by user error.  If you do need anything restored simply submit a support ticket to our team and we provide free of charge data restores at all times.

We only ever promise best effort with backups.  We do take them but we do not guarantee them and clients buy service on that understanding.  That said, in twelve years we have never had any issues with backups and they are always avaiulable to clients when they need them.  We also sell remote ftp backup accounts at a low cost to clients on shared hosting as well as giving a free ftp backup account on request to business clients.  This will allow clients to configure their own backups remotely.
