To setup a new ftp user you will need to follow these steps.
- Login to the cPanel.
- Navigate to the ftp users page.
cPanel >> Files >> FTP Accounts - On this page create a new user, STRONG password, and set the directory.
The directory is the folder you want the user to have access to. If for example you only want that ftp user to have access to the photos folder in the public_html folder you would set this as public_html/photos/ and they would not be able to access the main public_html, only the photos folder.
Probably the single most common mistake is the username when trying to connect after the account is created. Each new ftp user gets the main domain name of the account added to the end making it look like an email address. So while you typed in a user of george the actual ftp user would be [email protected]
